Celebrating our 25th anniversary in 2008, the Yankeee Reining Horse Association is the Western New York affiliate of the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA)FEI discipline and YRHA is the home for world-class equine competition in Western NY.

If you're new to reining we hope you find the site and it's links useful to learn about the sport. If you're an old hand the show schedules and standings pages are a great reference. We hope everyone will visit and patronize our club sponsors, who we're proud to promote.

No matter what, we look forward to seeing one and all at our next reining, Lake Effect I & II, September 20 - 21, 2008.

To rein a horse is not only to guide him, but also to control his every movement. The best reined horse should be willingly guided or controlled with little or no apparent resistance and dictated to completely. Any movement on his own must be considered a lack of control... credit should be given for smoothness, finesse, attitude, quickness and authority of performing various maneuvers, while using controlled speed which raises the difficulty level and makes him more exciting and pleasing to watch to an audience.
